Troubleshooting Car Amplifiers the Right Way
When your car audio amp malfunctions, this can be caused by a number of reasons: incorrect wiring, faulty vehicle radio, or defective amplifier. By learning to troubleshoot each of these problems, you can save yourself from having to send it to a car repair shop.
To know what the problem with your vehicle amps is, you must first check the fuse on the device. Usually located on the power side of the item, see if all the in-line fuses are running. Next, check out if the gain level on the audio apparatus is turned down. If this particular component, which functions as a volume, is turned down, you will not hear anything from the speakers. If the problem is not yet solved, check if all the wiring coming into the amplifier has good connection; otherwise, you will have to rewire them.
In addition, you should try examining the wiring under the bonnet since this is where the main power source of your amps comes from. Normally, if there are faulty wirings, there will be no power going to the amplifier and thus, it will not operate. Now, try to look at the ground wire connection of the automobile's amplifier and ensure that the ground is securely held in place on a clean, non-painted metal surface. Afterwards, trace the audio wire that is going from the amps to the speakers because their polarities might be reversed. Then, if none of the following has sorted out your confusion, see the voltage of the radio using a voltmeter.
Once you sort out the problem with your car's amps, you can then proceed enjoying all the tunes you have picked for your long drives.
